Contemplation

Original Series of 11.

This sculpture depicts a naked soldier. The soldier's anatomy suggests physical strength but the absence of armour or clothing accentuates his vulnerability. In his hand he holds an ancient Greek helmet. The piece was created to show how PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is not just a modern phenomenon as the impact of war on soldiers' mental health has been recorded as far back as in Homer's Iliad.
